University History

Gautam Buddh Technical University was formed when it was decided to split Uttar Pradesh Technical University in two parts to decrease the burden and to increase the quality of education in rapidly growing engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Technical University was established on 8 May 2000 to provide technical education. UPTU was established under University Act according to which technical education includes education in fields of Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town Planning, Pharmacy, Applied Arts and Crafts.[2] After the split, two new universities were formed: Gautam Buddh Technical University and Mahamaya Technical University. But in 2013 as Samajwadi Party came into power this university was again formed by combining Gautam Buddha Technical University and Mahamaya Technical University on January 5, 2013.
